Voluntary energy-efficiency labelling
With the aim of helping customers understand and compare the energy consumption of its world-leading TVs, Sony Australia has enthusiastically adopted the Government’s voluntary energy-efficiency labelling scheme.
This is an example of an energy rating label which can now be found on BRAVIA LCD televisions. "Myths and misunderstanding surround the ‘green-ness’ of electronics products, particularly flat panel TVs. So Sony Australia warmly welcomed the voluntary television energy labelling scheme announced by Environment Minister Peter Garrett in 2008.

"The 10-star appliance rating system is being adopted by Sony across its TV range, to help consumers compare the energy-efficiency of all brands that embrace the scheme.

Globally, TV energy efficiency has been an important factor in Sony product design for many years, along with a commitment to a reduction in packaging, the use of recycled packaging, and care over the type and quality of materials used in our manufacturing processes. All these elements have been prioritised to minimise the overall environmental impact of Sony products.

In terms of the choice between LCD and plasma, our figures show that BRAVIA LCD TV power consumption is at least 30% less than the published specifications of comparable plasma models in Australia.
