The meetings are more like workshops, with visiting experts passing on their knowledge, exhibitions, competitions and practical workshops. The group’s members use film and digital to capture their images with a wide variety of cameras from point and shoot, classics, to the latest digital cameras. Some members also develop and print their own work but this is not a requirement.

The group holds regular field trips to take photos and share knowledge and tips.

Formed by a group of people with similar interests the aim then (as now) was to promote photography as an art form and to help people new to photography to develop their skills. The intention is always to have fun and enjoy all aspects of photography.

Over the years, members of the group have gone on to earn major awards in local and overseas exhibitions and competitions. BMPG is proud to maintain the original aim of its founding members whilst at the same time moving with the ever changing technology surrounding photography.
