What is the Sony Tourist Limited Warranty?

The Tourist Limited Warranty (TLW), where issued and completed by the Dealer, is for customers of Sony Australia and New Zealand to have certain products covered by Sony Australia and New Zealand's manufacturers warranty outside the country of purchase. If the product fails during the 1 year warranty period, users can receive in-warranty repair service in the countries / areas listed on the TLW card (refer to below for list of Repairer countries), provided the fault condition falls within the terms and conditions of the manufacturers warranty.

Please note that this Sony Limited Warranty ONLY applies outside the country of purchase. Nothing in this Limited Warranty purports to modify or exclude the conditions, warranties and undertakings, and other legal rights, under laws and regulations within the country of purchase.

Tourist limited Warranties are not available for the following products:

  • Business & Professional Products
  • VAIO and CLIE
  • Xperia Tablet
  • Playstation Products (PS, PSOne, PS2, PS3, PSP, PSPGo, PlayStation Peripherals )
  • Plasma & LCD TVs
  • Computer Monitors (LCD/CRT)
  • Home Video Products (e.g. DVD players, VHS players), except DVD Walkman
  • MicroVault & Photovault
  • Memory Sticks
  • All accessories (except Digital SLR lenses)
  • Mobile Phones
  • AIBO
  • LCD Projector
  • Hard Disk Photo Storage
  • Car Audio Model MEX-BT5000

Where is the TLW accepted?

The following countries will repair your Sony product free of charge if the product fails within the one year of the manufacturers warranty, provided the fault repair falls within the terms and conditions of the standard warranty and you can provide a Tourist Limited Warranty certificate upon request by the authorised service centre.

Who can issue a TLW?

The TLW can be issued by any participating retailer at the time you purchase your Sony product. Please note, you will not be issued a TLW automatically, you will have to request one at the time of purchase. The TLW is available at retail stores within Australia, offering Duty Free, (or GST free) purchasing of Sony products within the TLW program.


How to claim TLW

If while overseas you require a warranty repair on a product covered by TLW and you are located in one of the approved countries within the one year manufacturers warranty period. Simply contact the nearest Sony Authorised Service Centre and make arrangements for your product to be repaired using the TLW program.

Other issues to be aware of

If you're purchasing electronics product with the intention of using them overseas, please ensure that the following functionalities are compliant in your country of residence:

  • AC voltage
  • Radio tuner coverage
  • DVD region code
  • Wireless products regulation
  • Other safety regulations or requirements
