Sony today announced the launch of the new Walkman Z Series in Australia, the first ever Walkman to be powered by Android. Designed to provide a truly exceptional personal audio experience, the Walkman Z Series is packed with Sony's innovative sound technologies.

Patrick Etherington, Assistant Product Manager for Walkman at Sony Australia said, "It is the beginning of an exciting chapter in the history of Walkman as we introduce the first-ever Walkman powered by Android. The new Z series is packed to the brim with all of Sony's innovative audio technology and offers an unparalleled personal audio experience for audiophiles and music fans alike."

Etherington continued, "Not only will music lovers appreciate the great sound and visuals on offer from the multimedia capabilities of the Walkman Z series, the functionality is further enhanced with a growing range of apps offered through the Android Market."

Excellent Sound Quality
The Walkman Z Series features an S-Master MX digital amplifier which greatly reduces distortion levels. In addition to the S-Master MX, the Walkman Z Series also boasts the full range of Sony's Clear Audio Technologies - Clear Bass, Clear Stereo, DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine), and EX headphones.

Music Unlimited
The Walkman Z Series allows users to gain access to Sony's Music Unlimited service. Music Unlimited offers music lovers the ability to listen to a constantly growing catalogue of millions of songs starting with a Basic subscription fee of $4.99/month or a Premium subscription fee of $12.99/month. The Music Unlimited service currently offers over seven million tracks from major labels including Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group and EMI Music as well as leading independent labels and major publishers worldwide.

Ergonomic Body Design
The Walkman Z Series has a unique ergonomic body design giving users the ability to share music with their friends and families without the need of a speaker-dock through the built-in xLOUD speaker system. The Walkman Z Series also has the ability to connect to compatible speakers, headphones, hi-fi systems or car stereos via Bluetooth.

Amazing 4.3" Display
Music, videos, games and apps come alive on the Walkman Z Series' unique anti-reflective 4.3" multi-touch LCD screen. Its high responsiveness, combined with a speedy 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor, keeps things speedy whether you're browsing web pages, movies or apps.

Fully Connected
Much more than a simple personal audio player, the Walkman Z Series allows users to share content at home and on-the-move wirelessly via Wi-Fi or through a connection to other DLNA-enabled devices. The ability to simply 'throw' music, picture and video files from the Walkman Z Series to compatible TVs, PCs, or home audio systems allows users to share their content with unparalleled ease.

W.Button
The Walkman Z Series features the W.Button allowing you to launch the unique W.Control app. The W.Control app gives users the ability to play or skip songs with a simple touch or swipe of your finger. The Walkman Z Series can even sort music using SensMe – built-in technology that places your music into one of fourteen mood-themed playlists. Availability Available in 16GB, the new Walkman NWZ-Z1050 Mobile Entertainment Player from Sony will be available in Australia from late April 2012 for SRP $269 inc. GST.
