Sony introduces new 4K HDR (High Dynamic Range) and BRAVIA TV lines

Delivering an enhanced High Dynamic Range experience

X9400D

Sydney, 6 January 2016 – Sony introduces a new 4K HDR television series designed to deliver a greater brightness range and higher contrast, making the best use of 4K HDR (High Dynamic Range) content with its unique backlighting technologies in a slim design. The 4K HDR TV series ranges in screen size from 55 to 85 inches. Sony is also expanding its BRAVIA LCD television series with multiple screen size options from 32 to 55 inches.

HDR is a burgeoning video standard that greatly expands the range of possible visual expression by reproducing higher brightness, higher contrast and more vibrant colours. HDR compatible content and services are expected to become more and more prevalent via Internet video services, TV broadcastings and Ultra HD Blu-ray titles.

The X9400D, featuring Slim Full-Array Direct LED Backlighting, and the X9300D series, take picture quality to new heights by delivering the best quality from HDR content. The X9300D series’ new Slim Backlight Drive technology features a new grid-array backlighting structure which was previously only available with full-array backlighting systems, allowing X-tended Dynamic Range PRO technology to boost peak brightness and black levels more precisely, and enhance contrast levels while maintaining a slim form factor. The 4K Processor X1 and its precision colour mapping technology allows TRILUMINOS Display to reproduce a wider colour range with accurate colour details at any brightness level. The X1 also improves the streaming quality of 4K HDR images provided by Internet video services.

The viewing experience goes beyond just the screen - a television should be great to look at in any environment. When hung against a wall, the X9400D and X9300D series sits close to the wall and virtually disappears into it, leaving behind little but the picture itself. When the television is set on a TV rack or a cabinet, its clean cable management keeps wires out of view and looks equally elegant when viewed from behind.
