BIONZ processor

The BIONZ processor is unique to Sony. It takes precise visual information captured by the high resolution sensor and processes it to maintain reality, texture and depth whilst reflecting the desired settings and styles selected by the photographer.

Dynamic Range Optimizer

Maximising the creative potential of the α lens line-up, they pick up extraordinary detail that’s rich in colour, highlight and contrast, providing the BIONZ processor with optimum visual information with which to ‘craft’ finished photographs.

Dual Anti-dust system

All DSLR owners have to contend with the risk of dust particles contaminating the sensor when they’re changing lenses. So a Dual Anti-Dust System is employed in the α range to reduce the risk of blurry marks spoiling your photographs.

The first component is an anti-static coating on the low pass filter that repels dust, making it easier to remove particles from inside the camera with a blower. The second is a high-speed sensor vibration mechanism that shakes off any particles every time the camera is switched off.
