Local Environmental Initiatives
Sony Australia seeks to enrich the lives of the community in which we operate through the provision of outstanding entertainment and communications products. But this commitment to quality of life also embraces the care we take to minimise our impact on the local environment.
Sony Australia is an active member of the Australian Packaging Covenant (APC), a Government initiative which seeks to minimise the environmental impacts of packaging disposal. The APC will focus on improved packaging design, away from home recycling, litter reduction and increased engagement across the supply chain through product stewardship. From 1 October 2009, televisions sold in Australia are required to meet Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) and mandatory energy labelling requirements. An approved Energy Label for televisions is displayed on all Sony TVs offered for sale in Australia. Sony Australia has enthusiastically supported this program since its inception.
In conjunction with SITA Environmental Solutions, Sony Australia is enabling and actively encouraging Australian consumers to recycle a wide variety of batteries.
Ever-conscious of the importance of protecting our environment, Sony is proud to have reduced CO2 emissions across our global business sites by over 30% since 2000.
