BRAVIA TVs Consumer Product Support

Basic Troubleshooting

Have you lost picture?

  1. Check that your aerial is plugged in correctly and your TV channel correlates to the video input. For example, if you are using an HDMI cable from another device (ie. set top box, Foxtel etc) check the TV channel (via your remote) is set to the channel/port the HDMI cable is plugged into at the back of the TV.
  2. In parts of Australia, TV is broadcast in both analog and digital signals. The broadcast will ‘switch’ to digital-only as a phased change (or switched off) across the country from now until the end of 2013. This means that Australian TV will be broadcast using digital-only signals. For more information click here.
  3. As the final step in the move to digital-only TV, some channels will change frequencies, after they’ve changed, you’ll need to retune your digital TV,  or recorder to keep watching your favourite shows. For information about the need to retune including when your area will need to retune, please refer to click here.  For information on how to retune please refer to click here.

  1. Firstly, check whether all channels are affected. If the EPG is missing from an individual channel the issue may be related to the broadcaster/signal.
  2. Check that your aerial is plugged in correctly and your TV channel correlates to the video input. For example, if you are using an HDMI cable from another device (ie. set top box, Foxtel etc) check the TV channel (via your remote) is set to the channel/port the HDMI cable is plugged into at the back of the TV.
  3. Attempt a Digital retune, click here
  4. Finally, confirm your Television is running the latest Firmware Update, click here.
