How to make or delete partitions with FDISK.

Perform the following procedure:
# Note: All data in the hard disk drive will be lost if you make or delete partitions with FDISK. Back up all the important data before.
** Creating a partition
** After setting the System Recovery CD-ROM, execute FDISK in "Safe mode command prompt only."
1. Connect PCGA-CD51 to your PC, and set the System Recovery CD-ROM before starting.
2. When SONY logo appears, hold down the Ctrl key.
3. Windows Startup Menu appears. Select "Safe mode command prompt only."
4. MS-DOS starts, and the following appears. A:\> Enter as follows to move to the DOS directory. A:\>CD DOS
5. Execute FDISK from the DOS directory. A:\DOS>FDISK [Enter]
6. When the following message is displayed, press "Y" key and Enter. "Do you wish to enable large disk support (Y/N).........? [ ]"
7. Select "4. Display partition information" to check the information of the current hard disk drive. If there are more than one partition, a new partition may be created. See *** Deleting the currently available partitions *** on how to delete partitions.
8. Press Esc key. When you select "1. Create DOS partition or logical DOS drive" and complete the drive check, you receive the message, "Do you want to allocate the maximum size to the primary partition? (The partition is activated at the same time.) (Y/N)." Press Y. Allocate the maximum size and then quit FDISK.
9. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to restart your PC. Restart your PC and then boot the computer from the System Recovery CD-ROM. Choose the hard disk format, and reconfigure your computer. [Notice] If you divide the partition, you must set the "Status" of the "DOS partition" to Active. The initial state when you divide the partition is "No Active Partition."

*** Deleting the currently available partition
*** Delete the logical drive
1. On FDISK Options screen, select "3. Delete partition or logical drive."
2. On the next screen, select "3. Delete logical DOS drive in extended DOS partition." Select the drive to delete, enter the volume label if any. When you receive "Are you sure you want to delete the drive? (Y/N)" message, press Y. If you press the ESC key, you can return to the previous screen. Deleting the extended DOS partition
3. On FDISK Options screen, select "3. Delete partition or logical drive" again. On the next screen, select "2. Delete extended DOS partition." When the message, "WARNING: All data on the selected partition will be deleted when the partition is deleted. Do you want to continue (Y/N)?" appears, type Y. If you press the ESC key, you can return to the FDISK Options screen. Deleting the primary MS-DOS partition
4. On FDISK Options screen, select "3. Delete partition or logical drive." On the next screen, select "1. Delete primary DOS partition." Select the drive to delete, enter the volume label if any. When you receive "Are you sure you want to delete the drive? (Y/N)" message, press Y.
5. On FDISK Options screen, select "4. Display partition information." to check if the partition is deleted. [Notice] If you cannot delete a partition by the above procedure, you must use the operating system or utility software that you used when you created the partition.
