About the Competition
The Alpha Awards brings together the greatest images from across Australia and New Zealand, captured on Sony Alpha cameras.
In the inaugural 2017 competition, photographers can submit their work across 8 categories; portrait, landscape, macro, sports, editorial, nature, abstract & youth (u16).

John's winning entry from the Nature category delivers on so many levels. The colours are subtle and rich, the subject matter is charming and surprising, and the technical qualities of the image are beyond reproach. While every category winner has impressed us with their skill, it's the consistent excellence on so many elements that makes this image our grand prize winner.
