Connectivity Diagrams


Television, AV Receiver, Set Top Box (HDMI or Component)

The below diagram shows the most common connections for your configuration. For each connection type, a colour is used to make the diagram easier to understand. More information on connection types can be found here. Choose your preferred type of connection or quality level from the diagram below, but remember that when using component connection (indicated by the blue colour) you also need to connect an RCA Stereo Cable, or a Digital Coaxial cable, or an Optical cable to your television set or AV receiver to output sound, as component cable does not transmit sound.

Connections

  1. RF cable (aerial), which carries digital and analogue signal to Set Top Box
  2. RF cable, which carries the analogue signal to your television
  3. Component cable, which carries the analogue video signal of your Set Top Box to your AV Receiver
  4. HDMI cable, which carries the digital video and audio signals of your Set Top Box to your AV Receiver
  5. Component cable, which allows you to watch analogue video signals output from your AV Receiver
  6. HDMI cable, which allows you to watch digital video signals output from your Av Receiver
  7. Optical or Digital coaxial cable, which carries the digital audio signal of your Set Top Box to your AV Receiver (use this cable in conjunction with a Component video cable)


To Use

  • To watch your DVD player / Blu-ray Disc player / DVD Recorder or your Set Top Box using respectively the Component and the HDMI connection type:

    • Turn on your Television and DVD player / Blu-ray Disc player / DVD Recorder or Set Top Box
    • Turn on your AV Receiver
    • On your AV Receiver, select the Component input corresponding to the device you want to watch (Please refer to your AV Receiver manual)
    • Select the proper input on your Television by using the input select button on your Television remote (please refer to your television manual to know which one of your television's AV input is dedicated to the corresponding Component or HDMI input)

Devices with SCART may not be available in your area.


I have followed the diagram and it is still not working. What do I do next?

  • Check that your cables are properly inserted. If necessary, disconnect and reconnect them.
  • Check that the cables in the sending device are in the out socket and are connected to the in socket of the receiving device.
  • Make sure that the correct input is selected.
  • Ensure that your cables are not faulty. You can do this by trying with other cables.
