Noise canceling doesn't work, or white noise is heard during a call on the headphones

The noise canceling function is less effective during a call than during music playback.

During a call, the microphones will pick up ambient sound regardless of the Ambient Sound Control function setting. This is an effect of the Sidetone function, which allows your voice to be heard naturally and makes it more comfortable to talk during a call. As a result, the noise canceling function works differently on a call than it does when playing music.

If you hear ambient sounds, headphone operational sounds, or white noise (a small electrical noise with continuous static sound) during a call, that is also an effect of the Sidetone function, not a malfunction.

    Hints:

Depending on the model, you can deactivate the Sidetone function by following the steps below:

    • For WF-1000XM6 / WF-1000XM5 / WH-1000XM6 / ULT WEAR (WH-ULT900N): In the Sony | Sound Connect app, select Device settings Calling and set the Capture Voice During a Phone Call setting to Off.
    • For INZONE Buds: In the INZONE Hub software, select Sound SettingsSidetone and move the slider to turn off the function. This function is set to OFF by default.
