The Microphone button/voice command function does not work on my TV remote control.

Prior to performing further troubleshooting steps, confirm whether the remote control has a Microphone  button or mark. Remote controls that support voice recognition will have that button or mark.

• The location of the Microphone  button or mark on the remote control varies depending on your region and model. Refer to the manual for details.
• If the TV is set up as a basic TV, voice recognition via remote control does not work. The TV must be set up as a Google TV™.
• There are two alternative methods to "voice recognition using the remote control":
  • Use a software keyboard.
  • Use the Google TV application on your mobile device or tablet.
    Note: In this case, it is necessary to connect your smartphone or tablet to the same network as the TV.

Troubleshooting steps

If voice recognition does not work, even when you use a remote control that supports this function, check the following items.

1. Make sure the Voice control function is turned On.

1. On the remote control, press the HOME button.
2. When the Home screen is displayed, press the Dashboard () button on the remote control.
3. Select All Settings.
4. Select Accounts and profiles.
5. Select your Login Name.
6. Select Voice Assistant.
7. Select Voice control and set to On.

2. Make sure your TV can connect to the Internet.

An Internet connection is necessary to use voice recognition. Follow the steps below to confirm that your TV can connect to the Internet.

1. On the remote control, press the HOME button.
2. When the Home screen is displayed, press the Dashboard () button on the remote control.
3. Select All Settings.
4. Select Network and Internet and Check Connection.

3. Speak into the built-in microphone located at the top of the remote control in one of the following ways:

• On the remote control, press and hold the Microphone button. While holding the Microphone button, speak into the microphone on the remote control.
• Position the microphone closer to your mouth, or speak in a loud and clear voice.

Note:  The microphone is usually located at the top or just above the center of the remote (the location may differ depending on your remote control).

4. Pair your remote control with your Google TV.

1. Check if the remote control is registered.
   1. On the remote control. press the HOME button.
   2. When the Home screen is displayed, press the Dashboard () button on the remote control.
   3. Select All Settings.
   4. Select Remotes and Accessories.
   5. Select Pair accessory.
   6. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Note:  Pairing can fail if the battery level is low. Replace the batteries and try pairing again.

5. Remove and then re-insert the remote control batteries, or charge them.

If the issue persists, remove and re-insert the batteries.

8. Reset your Google TV.
