How to change the associated program of the file in Windows Vista?

Some files may not open properly if the associated program of the file is set to a different application

    1. Click Start
    2. Select Control Panel
    3. Select Classic View
    4. Double-click Default Programs 
    5. Click Associate a file type or protocol with a program

        
    6. Locate the file type. To know the type of the file, Right-click on the file -> Select Properties
    7. Select the file type
    8. Click the Change Program Button

        
    9. Select the Application

        
    10. Click OK
