How do I prevent the bundled software, VirusScan from launching at the startup of my computer?

When you make McAfee VirusScan non-resident, we recommend you to start VirusScan manually to execute the virus check periodically.

(Procedure)

I. To remove the properties of System Scan

1. Double-click the [VShield] icon in the task tray to display the [System Scan Status] dialog box.
2. Click the [Properties] button to display the [System Scan Properties] dialog box.
3. Remove the check from the [Enable System Scan] box in the [Detection] tab.
4. Click the [E-Mail Scan] icon on the left window and remove the check from the [Enable Scanning of e-mail attachment] box in the [Detection] tab.
5. Click the [Download Scan] icon on the left window and remove the check from the [Enable Internet download scanning] box.
6. Click the [Internet Filter] icon on the left window and remove the check from the [Enable Java & Active X filter] in the [Detection] tab.
7. Click the [Apply] button and click [OK].
8. Next, close the [System Scan Status] dialog box.
9. Restart the system and click [Run] on the [Start] menu.
10. Input "msconfig" and boot [System Configuration Utility].
11. Remove the checks from the [AvconsoleEXE] and [VsStatEXE] boxes in the [Startup] tab. Click the [Apply] button and click [OK].
12. When the dialog box prompting you to restart the system appears, click [Yes] to restart the system.

*In the case of McAfee Scan Ver. 4.0.3, you can skip steps 5 & 6 above.
