This is an Operating System issue and Microsoft didn't fix it on RTM build. 3. After reboot, the symtpom can be recovered.

17 Playback of MPEG2/M2T video files using Windows Media Player, the playback screen is blank but audio is normally. This issue still occur on Win8 RTM build (9200).
Because WMP didn't support MPEG2/M2T codec (PDVD, WMC can support it).
So it is OS limitation.
