Why can't I use NetMeeting via the Internet?
or
What kind of hardware and software environment is needed to use NetMeeting through the Internet?
Please refer to the following for the requirements and relevant solutions.
--Requirements--
To carry out [NetMeeting] communications via the Internet, the IP address of the device to be connected to the Internet via NetMeeting must be a global IP address.
When you set the dial-up connection of your computer through the built-in modem or a terminal adaptor (TA), a global IP address is usually set to your computer by the Internet Service Provider. In this case, NetMeeting can be used without any problem.
When you connect your computer to your Internet Service Provider through an ISDN (Integrated Service Digital Network) router or an ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) modem (with a router function), a global IP address is set to the ISDN router or the ADSL modem by the Internet Service Provider, and a private IP address is set to your computer by the ISDN router or the ADSL modem. In this case, NetMeeting cannot be used.
Some models of the ISDN routers and ADSL modems, however, permit the settings as if one of the terminals uses their global IP address.
