Does my Google TV™ or monitor have a removable protective film?
Whether or not your Google TV or monitor has a protective film that needs to be removed varies by model; however, most do not have a removable protective film on the screen. The guidance below will show you how to check.
IMPORTANT: Never attempt to remove the screen's surface unless you are certain a protective film is present. Removing the top layer of the screen will damage the TV. For models without a protective film, do not remove the surface material from the corners or sides of the panel.
How to identify if there is a removable protective film
- Check your TV for these signs:
- A flyer with removal instructions attached to the center of the screen
- Tape tabs at the upper edges of the screen panel
- A flyer with removal instructions attached to the center of the screen
- If you do see these signs:
Your TV has a protective film that should be removed before use. - If you do not see these signs:
There is no protective film on the screen surface. Do not remove the surface material from the corners or sides of the panel.
How to remove the protective film (if your TV came with one)
If your TV comes with the flyer and has the tape tabs, it has a protective film from the manufacturer to help prevent scratches on your screen during shipping and handling.
Follow these instructions carefully to remove the protective film:
- Locate the piece of tape at the upper left and right edges of the TV screen. These serve as tabs for peeling the film off.
- Hold both tabs simultaneously and slowly peel off the protective film from top to bottom.
IMPORTANT: Do not remove the film from side to side.
