Experiencing TV issues? Reset your TV with a soft restart, power cycle, or factory data reset

There are several reset methods available for your television, depending on the issue you are experiencing.

Try each step if it applies to your situation before moving on to the next. If you aren't sure of your TV type, check if your BRAVIA TV is a Google TV, an Android TV or other.

Your TV is responsive if it reacts when you press the buttons on the TV or remote control.

If your TV is responsive but has specific issues (e.g. app crashes, random turn-offs, etc.), try the following options:

Power Cycle (All TVs)

Soft Reset (Android/Google TVs)

Factory data reset (All TVs)

Your TV is unresponsive if it doesn't react when you press the buttons on the TV or remote control.

If your TV is unresponsive and has specific issues (e.g. stuck, not powering on, continuously rebooting, etc.), try the following options:

Power Cycle (All TVs)

Forced factory data reset (Android/Google TVs)

IMPORTANT: Keep in mind that a factory reset erases your current settings and requires you to set up the TV again.

If you can’t access the settings with the remote, use the buttons on the TV to perform a manual factory reset.

After performing a forced factory reset, you may be able to recover some of your TV apps if they are synced with your Google account.

The steps to sync your apps will depend on your TV menu options:

HOME → Settings → Device Preferences or Accounts & Sign-In → Google → Choose synced apps → Select the items you want to sync with the account → Sync now.
HOME → Settings → Google → Choose synced apps in Sync → Select the items you want to sync with the account → Sync now.
HOME → Settings → Personal → Google → Choose synced apps in Sync → Select the items you want to sync with the account → Sync now.
