How to replace the earpads (WH-XB700)
Before you start
Before replacing the earpads, make sure that the headphones are turned off.
Remove the earpads
-
Put your fingers into the inside of the earpad and then pull the earpad up from the headphones by gradually peeling off the adhesive sheet.
Hint: The adhesive sheet is used to attach the earpad to the headphones. If the adhesive is strong, pull them slightly harder to remove the earpad.
-
Once part of the earpad comes off, the rest will be easier to peel off. Along with the removed part, gently lift and remove the entire earpad from the headphones. Then, repeat the same steps to remove the earpad on the other side.
Note: There is a protective cover in the center of the surface where the earpad is removed. Be careful about the following:
- Make sure not to have the protective cover touch the adhesive part of the removed earpad
- Keep metal objects away from the protective cover
-
Remove the adhesive remaining on the headphones clearly by rubbing them little by little with your fingers.
Note: Be aware that using commercially available sticker removers may cause discoloration of the headphones.
Install the replacement earpads
-
Remove the protective tape from the adhesive part of the replacement earpad.
Note: After removing the protective tape, be careful not to touch the adhesive side or not to put anything on it.
- Checking the position of the headphones, carefully line up the earpad with the headphones and gently drop the earpad so that it does not protrude from the housing of the headphones. Do not press the earpad too hard.
-
Press the earpad with your fingers and crimp it so that it does not peel off from the headphones.
Note: Press along the adhesive tape on the earpad, being careful not to press the center of the earpad.
Make sure that the entire earpad is crimped.
-
The replacement is complete. Repeat the same steps to install the earpad on the other side.
