TV screen briefly goes black when turning on certain HDMI devices (e.g., Nintendo Switch 2)

IMPORTANT: This article only applies to specific products and/or operating systems. Please check the Applicable Products and Categories section of this article before starting these steps.

This behavior is caused by the HDMI-CEC function and is not an issue with your BRAVIA TV or external devices.

For example, if Match TV Power State is set to On in the Nintendo Switch 2 settings, turning on the console will automatically switch your TV's HDMI input to the Nintendo Switch 2.
Afterwards, the HDMI communication between the TV and the console stops. This may cause the HDMI input to switch again, resulting in the screen temporarily going black.

    Notes:

    • If this issue occurs with a Nintendo Switch 2, we have confirmed that updating the console to the latest system firmware improves HDMI-CEC operation and resolves the issue.
    • BRAVIA TVs and some external HDMI devices, including Nintendo Switch 2, are equipped with the HDMI-CEC function, which enables communication and control between connected devices.
Depending on the type and number of connected devices, this function may switch the input source several seconds (up to 30 seconds) after a device is turned on.
