F Series HOP cone speakers

What if we mixed up some unique ingredients, and created a new super fibre for our in-car speakers. Would it give better endurance and brighter sound?

The engineering stories

Inspiration

Our sound engineers couldn’t work out why they had such a good stereo that sounded so awful.

But thinking about how much music has changed over the years, they had a light-bulb moment…

Genres like hip hop have more bass, and speakers can’t handle such low frequencies. What we need, they thought, is a car speaker that’s strong enough to handle the vibrations of any kind of music.

So they got to work, mixing up all manner of substances to create the perfect fibre.

Creation

After much testing, our engineers decided on a unique cone material to go into our F Series speakers: HOP mixed with Aramid fibres (also known as Kevlar).

HOP material has medium rigidity, so it responds well to vibrations. When mixed together with Aramid and its very straight fibres, this one-of-a-kind partnership produces a smoother high tone without fuzzy sloppiness

Demonstration

Always striving to make sound quality even better, the Sony F Series HOP cone reproduces brighter high tones and solid, tight bass. Sound is clearer at high volume and our speakers can be driven hard, for much longer.

What this does is make our top end technology accessible to everyone, so you get better sounding car stereo speakers as a given.
