How to convert and output a movie file using DVgate Plus?

To convert and output a movie file using DVgate Plus

Please refer to the steps below:

Step 1: Select an operation mode.
1. Click Start -> All Programs -> DVgate Plus -> DVgate Plus.
2. Click HDD.

Step 2: Output a clip to a file
1. Select a clip to be output to a file.
2. Click File Output Settings and perfom the following settings:

Save Format
Select the save format from the following:
A. DV CODEC AVI 1.0 (*.avi)
This file type uses the same compression method as a DV device.
When the file is to be output to a DV device later, select either this format or DV CODEC AVI 2.0 (*.avi).
Note: When this format is selected, file size is limited to a maximum of 2 GB.
B. DV CODEC AVI 2.0 (*.avi)
This file type uses the same compression method as a DV device.
When the file is to be output to a DV device later, select either this format or DV CODEC AVI 1.0 (*.avi).
C. MPEG1 (*.mpg)
This file compression method is compatible with Video CD and DVD. Also, the files created are relatively small.
Note: Output to MPEG1 file type does not support wide-screen mode.
D. MPEG2 (*.mpg)
This file compression method is compatible with DVD. Higher image quality can be obtained with this method than with MPEG1.
File size is larger than MPEG1, but smaller than DV CODEC AVI 1.0/2.0.
When the file is to be used for DVD, select this format or MPEG1 (*.mpg).
E. MICROMV (*.mmv)
This file type uses the same compression method as a MICROMV device.
When the file is to be output to a MICROMV device later, select this format.
F. Click to DVD Project File (*.ctd)
This is a project file for Click to DVD.
Select this when the content edited by DVgate Plus is to be used with Click to DVD. Each clip can be used as a chapter on a DVD.
Note : Project files are used to manage movies and still images by Click to DVDDVgate Plus are in their original format.
The image quality of the Click to DVD project file is determined automatically by matching the quality of the output clip.

Quality (bit rate)
Select the quality setting from the following:
Note: This item is only available when one of the following is selected for the File type:
MPEG1 (*.mpg), MPEG2 (*.mpg).
The number of available selections here may be different, depending on what items were selected for File type.
A. Long Play (1.4 Mbps)
The movie is saved with the minimum file size.
Although quality is low, this setting is useful when saving long movies.
B. Standard (4 Mbps)
The movie is saved with standard file size and quality.
C. High Quality (8 Mbps)
The movie is saved with the highest quality.
File size is the largest.
D. Sample rate
Select the audio sample rate from the following.
Note: This item cannot be set when Click to DVD Project File (*.ctd) is selected as File type. The number of available selections here may be different, depending on what items were selected for File type.
a. 32 kHz
The audio is saved with the minimum file size.
After returning from writing the file to the DV device, select this format if sound with dubbing is required to be added.
b. 44.1 kHz
Audio is saved with standard file size and quality.
c. 48 kHz
The audio is saved with the highest quality.
File size is also the largest.

Save Settings
Note:
The Save each clip as an individual movie file option cannot be used when Click to DVD Project File (*.ctd) is selected as File type.
A. Save in
Shows the destination folder for files.
Click Browse to choose a different folder.
B. Save each clip as an individual movie file
This selection is convenient for common editing of output files using DVgate Plus as it saves each clip as an individual movie file.
C. Save all clips in one movie file
This selection is convenient for playing the output file on the VAIO computer as it saves all clips in one movie file.

File Division
A. Do not divide by time or file size
This will save captured movies undivided.
Note: This item cannot be set when DVD CODEC AVI 1.0 (*.avi) is selected as File type.

B. Divide by time
Divide and save captured movies by a specified time period.
When DVD CODEC AVI 1.0 (*.avi) is selected, the time range is 30 sec. to 9 min. 30 sec. As for any other format, the time range is 30 sec. to 19 min.
Note: This item cannot be set when Click to DVD Project File(*.ctd) is selected.
C. Divide by file size
Divide and save captured movies by a specified file size.
When DV CODEC AVI 1.0 is selected, file size per division is 2 GB (2048 MB). If any other format is selected, the size can be set up to 4 GB (4096 MB).
Note: This item cannot be set when Click to DVD Project File(*.ctd) is selected.
D. Movie Aspect Ratio
Select the aspect ratio for the file, 4:3 or 16:9.
Note: This item cannot be set when Click to DVD Project File(*.ctd) is selected.
The aspect ratio is fixed at 4:3 when MPEG1 (*.mpg) is selected.

4. Click OK and click Output.
5. When the Confirm File Output Settings dialog box appears, click OK.
Note:
Depending on the length and format of the movie to output, it may take time to complete the output process.

It takes time to complete the whole process if a file in the format that Click to DVD cannot process.

6. When the output complete message appears, click OK.
