Sony launches a dirt and splash proof 65” LCD display panel with economical power consumption
Sony GXD L65H1 with IP54 rating and three-year warranty for lower TCO delivers a 65” Commercial/Industrial LCD Panel.

Sony Australia today announces the launch of the latest model in its ruggedised commercial LCD panel range, the GXD L65H1. Featuring an IP54 (Ingress Protection) rating, economical power consumption and three year factory warranty, this panel provides excellent total cost of ownership. A list of unique features makes it ideal for applications where any normal flat panel display would not survive, including mining, transportation, manufacturing, sporting stadiums pubs and clubs.

With an IP rating of 54 , the GXD L65H1 qualifies as dust and splash proof, making this panel an ideal choice for more demanding digital signage applications. As part of its IP54 qualification, the display panel has completely sealed terminal and cable compartments including power, as well as an internal cooling system which uses heat syncs to draw heat outwards and help maintain optimum cabinet temperature. This eliminates the need for ventilation holes, so the display is ideal for dusty environments. Additionally, the internal cooling system allows the panel to be operated in either portrait or landscape mode, without adversely affecting its performance.

To achieve its IP54 rating, the GXD L65H1 was put through a rigorous and robust testing schedule, proving its resistance to dust and splashed water.

New optional speakers (SSSPGO2) are also IP54 rated and replace existing models as suitable for all Sony commercial 1080 public display panels.

Economical Power Consumption
The GXD L65H1 has two “Eco Power” operating modes (HIGH 230 watts, LOW 300 watts), as well as a 50 watt standby screen saver mode, providing potential for cost savings and more eco friendly operation. Adding to this is a light sensor which can control the backlight level automatically to suit different lighting conditions. In a panel of this size, with all its unique features the GXD L65H1 compares extremely well for economical operation against other screens of a similar size.

“The IP54 rating and economical power consumption are two unique features of this panel, delivering a competitive product capable of surviving and performing in areas where a normal monitor could not,” said Les Boros, Public Display Product Manager, Business Solutions Division, Sony Australia.

“This unique display offers 65 inches of Full HD picture quality in 1920 x 1080 resolution and a host of features and functionality specifically designed to meet the demands of system integrators.”

The GXD L65H1 boasts a protective aluminium bezel, which is lightweight, corrosion resistant and shock proof, a signature feature of Sony’s ruggedised commercial panel range. The tamper resistant front glass is replaceable without needing to remove the entire panel from its mounting location, and the glass itself has an anti-reflective and anti-glare coating, which is a new addition by Sony, making this panel ideal for viewing in high ambient light areas.

Sony’s original backlight system eliminates the common problem of a complete display failure when just a single cold cathode fluorescent lamp malfunctions, providing even further security for the long term performance of this panel, especially in tough commercial environments.
